If the Sharp uses the SMB protocol for network scanning, then Apple made a change to the SMB protocol used back with OS X 10.7 and this change stopped many network copiers from being able to scan to a shared folder on the Mac. So I would check with Sharp if they have a firmware update for the copier to make it compatible with OS X 10.7 and later. As a workaround you could use the FTP protocol instead of SMB.
This is still functioning on OS X 10.9 although you need to enable it via Terminal or use a 3rd party utility to enable it. If you would like to try this workaround, then check that the MX2310 supports the FTP protocol for network scanning.
AirPrint is Apple's printing technology that provides instant printing capabilities for iOS and OS X devices. Select Sharp MFPs and printers have built-in AirPrint technology enabling users to print from their iPad ®, iPhone ® and iPod ® touch mobile digital devices or Mac ® computers without requiring a print driver.
If it does, then reply and I will provide some instruction. PahuThanks for your reply. I have contacted both SHARP and Telstra and my issue is quite confounding! To access the scanned copies I email them to myself (or whoever) as a pdf. The issue I have is related to the Printer/photocopier not recognising/resolving the DNS server settings. I've tried all sorts of tests - using 8.8.8.8 as DNS server, old bigpond DNS server, one Telstra gave me (one person seemed to be able to follow something through) etc etc and every time it says check DNS settings. The way I have it all networked is -Telstra 4G advanced netgear modem, ethernet from modem cradle to a TP link router, printer connected to TP link router by ethernet cable.
Shot designer alternative mac. Shot Designer is fast enough that you can rearrange the diagram with actors waiting.OTHER FEATURES.
My only issue is emailing out from the printer. The IP address of printer shouldn't be causing any conflicts as it is numbered below the range on the modem.Anything else you can think of?RegardsJulia.
Julia.atkin wrote:HiI've read the discussion re other printers/scanners and have upgraded driver to the latest one, deleted and re-added printer etc. Printer is working fine but not the scanner. Is anyone havingn similar issues with a SHARP MX2310U? And most importantly, any solutions?I'm a bit confused how this relates to upgrading to Maverick. Did the problem start only after upgrading and was working previously? It sounds like you are sending an email from the MFP to an SMTP server, is this server on the MAC? If not I fail to see how the MAC is involved in the issue. Can you ping 8.8.8.8 from the MFP front panel?
If not then there is a basic network issue. If you can ping 8.8.8.8 then with that set in the DNS setup, can you ping to confirm DNS resolution? If that works can you supply information as to the setup of the email information under SMTP settings on the MFP.If you need to use SMB then the latest MFP firmware for the MX-2310U is 06.10 and it should work with MAC OS X 10.9 as I've used it with my MX-5111N with firmware 08.10 which the equivilent in a similar series. Hi all,We have a Sharp MX-2610N and linking to one of the other questions that was very helpful ' Sharp MX-2614n - 10.11 drivers - unable to print' it would seem that we have a 'crippled' sharp printer that doesn't allow Postscript Driver Printing, as such we are limping by with B&W. I cannot seem to find the MX-PK11 add on and our printer is no longer supported (we own it and its at our risk now) as such it would appear even if we did pay the premium it then needs an authorised sharp dealer to register it for the unique code.My question was that if we bought an airport express for example to allow AirPrint would this allow colour printing? I assume not given its that printers software preventing this but I thought it would be worth an ask?Failing this given that the previous thread was some time ago, is there any other solution to allow colour printing from a Mac to one of these printers? We do have some windows PC's so could we share a printer through them instead etc?Thank your your help.Rob.
