Equal Interval System

Nov 18, 2017  This idea came out of my practice time reviewing things I have recently learned while studying Lyle Murphy's System of Horizontal Composition Based on Equal Intervals, also known as the Equal.

You being familiar with the topic (first time I've heard of it), could you recommend a book (or several) about this topic? Or maybe some specific online videos? I've been teetering on the edge of delving deeper into jazz theory, and this particular 'technique' seems to provide results that I'd like to be able to replicate at will.Cheers!It is primarily a composition course, not an improvising course. The primary benefit that I received from studying the course was that my writing was freed from the mechanical habits of my piano playing. It began as scores in Sibelius. The productions generally began with my keyboard parts and my friend's bass part played to a click. That was emailed to David 'Fingers' Haynes who programmed the drum parts (probably the world's most wicked finger drum player.look him up on YouTube). Then the various brass and guitar parts were recorded.

All the solos were improvised.It's not the ideal way to do a jazz project, but I got it all done for under $2k.
