Seamlessly add a num pad to your MacBook or to your Apple Magic Keyboard.

I am thankful that I decided to purchase my new-to-me MacBook Pro, from one of my best friends. Truthfully, I have used the MacBook nearly daily for product reviews, work documentation, emails, movies, web searches and for so much more. It really has become more useful to me than my iPad, which is now likely jealous of the time I spend with my computer. Having learned to type throughout my middle/high school years, I have progressed through proficient to adept. I watch some flounder around on the keyboard, but I stick to my roots. I utilize the home row and the little nubs on the F and J key. Additionally, I use the number row as well as the home row. Alas, the main complaint I have about my MacBook Pro is that there is no num pad. I have never been as good with the number row as with the num pad.

The LMP Bluetooth Keypad 2 is a Bluetooth keyboard that will add a num pad to an Apple Magic keyboard or to your MacBook Pro. If you use Numbers from iWork, Excel, tax software or any number heavy software, you will likely notice the lack of a num pad. Luckily the LMP keyboard fills this deficit. It arrives well packaged inside of a white cardboard box. The imagery is well done, showing the keyboard directly attached to an iMac Magic Keyboard via a spacer (included). The back of the packaging details the product very well and in multiple languages (German, English, French, Italian, Spanish). The product connects via Bluetooth 3.0 and requires no dongle or attachment. Included with the packaging is the Bluetooth keypad, an ABS plastic connecting bar, a 1 meter USB-A to USB-micro cable and the instruction manual.

The user manual is written in multiple languages, similar in the order listed on the packaging. To access the English instructions, turn to page 3. The initial page diagrams the keyboard, buttons and the programmable buttons, along with the top. Turning the keyboard over, you will notice a red pairing button. Along the top, you will find the on/off switch and the micro USB charging port. The keyboard has an included 350 mAh battery. When you plug in the micro USB cable, a solid blue LED will illuminate across the top of the keyboard. Once fully charged, the blue LED will turn off. I was able to have a fully charged keyboard in about 2 hours (attached to MacBook Pro USB port).

Turn on the keyboard by sliding the power switch to the on position (right position). Dxcpl.exe windows 8 64 bit download. Unfortunately, this is not labeled on the keyboard. Once on, you will not need to power it off, to conserve power. The keyboard has a built-in sleep mode. To resume normal power mode, simply press any button on the keyboard. The device would power down after 5 minutes of inactivity and would power back on after a single button press (about 10 seconds). Navigate to the system preferences and then open up Bluetooth. Press the pairing button on the back of the keyboard and note the LMP device will become listed. I selected LMP WKP-1644 and then a keyboard setup assistant opened on my MacBook. Reference manager 12 torrent download full. It asked me to press the button to the left of the shift key, on the keyboard. Unfortunately, there is no shift key on the keyboard. I selected the red X and exited out of the window. Despite this hiccup, the keyboard worked flawlessly.

The buttons on the keyboard are very responsive and feel amazing. The “5” key has a raised horizontal bar similar to the F/J keys for positioning. The keyboard feel is very spongy and incredibly satisfying. The input to my MacBook proved to be as quick as typing on my main keyboard. There did not seem to be any noticeable lag. In addition to the num pad, there are a few other glaring perks to this keyboard. First, I really like that they included both a delete and backspace key. This provides functionality for deleting forward and backwards. The clear button seems a little redundant, but nice to have. The two programmable buttons will likely prove to be the most useful to you as they are customizable to your preference. To program the keys to return to system preferences, select keyboard, then shortcuts. Select the shortcut of interest and program it to the button. To learn more, press the “?” along the bottom right of the screen.

The Bluetooth num pad keyboard is definitely a quality addition to your MacBook. With the auto-off feature, you can expect to have plenty of power with the 350mAh battery. I wish that it was Bluetooth 4.0 low energy for connection and power conservation purposes, but this may have made the keyboard more expensive. LMP could have added a larger battery, but this would add to the bulk. The current specifications show that the keyboard measures 112x114x13mm and weighs the equivalent of 107 paperclips. This weight really should not be that noticeable and definitely should not stop you from carrying one in your bag.

I do not have an iMac, nor a magic keyboard, to pair the device. I thus cannot know how well it works in the conjoined configuration. I can only imagine that the keyboard will add to the functionality of the Magic Apple Keyboard as well. I am pleased with the device and give it a 5/5 rating.
