Apr 13, 2019  Trade in EUIV can be a gold mine if you know how to use it - it can be the difference between being rich and prosperous and just muddling along with the economy. In my experience, the latter isn’t good enough. After all, trade is one third of the. The inland trade goes through Bejing to silk route to Persia trade node. The SEA trade node all go through Malacca to Bengal. From Bengal there are two direction:-It can follow the inland node in india to persia or Gulf.-Or it can go by sea to deccan trade node and from there can be direct to cape or back to either alexandria or gulf.

It's possible, but the problem with it is that Prussia has no trade ideas, while Netherlands does.

So Netherlands have an easier time competing in the English Channel. There are 4 centers of Trade in the English Channel node, London, Holland, Caux and Antwerpen. London and Caux are held by England in 1444 but they usually lose Caux to France.

Antwerpen is held by Brabant, I think. You'll probably need to have both Antwerpen and Holland to have good control over the node, and you'll probably need a strong trade fleet as well. You should also, obviously, take Trade Ideas at some point. This route is pretty fun, but it does have drawbacks. First, You'll need to conquer alot of HRE land, so you can't do it fast. Second, the Commonwealth usually controls the Prussian Lands.

Third, Unless you're an elector, you will get kicked out of the HRE when you form Prussia. I think you also get kicked out when you form the Netherlands, but you're usually small enough still that you can immediately join the HRE again. I haven't done this, but I'm currently playing a B/P game and my first idea was Trading and it is great. I don't have space marines yet but I don't really need them.

I make more than enough to just replace my lost troops with mercs. That being said, you might have better luck expanding into Norway and taking exploration that way. Then, as you are exploring and colonizing, you can start to take out the English and the low countries.

You may be late to the colonial game, but you can also just take their colonies. A couple things to help you out-Steering in or towards an inland node gives you caravan power, increasing the effectiveness of your merchant:You get a couple merchants from trade ideas, one from a colonial idea group (I forget which one, exploration or expansion) and then a extra merchant from each colony with greater then 10 provinces. Full annexing a country with colonies gives you their colonial nations, so you can have more then one colonial nation per region. Having a trade company with a majority of the trade power in a node also grants an extra merchant. As a western nation you can take the East India Trade Company decision that also grants an extra merchant.

If you focus on trade and colonizing/taking the right places in Asia and the colonial regions you can swim in merchants.Whether you have to steer trade is kinda up to the specifics of that node. Is the trade already being steered by others in the rught direction already?

Is the trade being kept there by local nations? Can the 10% steering bonus and caravan power bonuses be better used elsewhere? You will need to look at all that before you decide if it makes sense to steer there. And which route you take is kind of up to you. Coastal routes are easiest because you can deploy light ships to bump your trade power if you need to, but that means you miss out on caravan power unless you're steering from the coast inland. Inland nodes will always have caravan power regardless of where you steer to but you can't use light ships to supplement your steering power.Edit: oh, and try to stack as much mercantilism as you can. ALWAYS take events that give you more, no matter the cost.

NEVER take decisions that take away mercantilism. There is zero downside and massive upside. You get double your mercantilism as a bonus to provincial trade power. 25% mercantilism makes your provinces 50% more valuable for trade, for example. This makes trade companies (+100% provincial trade power for provinces you assign to a trade company) extra OP. You can have a massive majority of the trade power in some Asian nodes from just taking a couple estuaries and assigning them to a trade company.

So let’s say I control the English Channel. I colonise the Ivory Coast, and then push trade from there to the Caribbean, and from there to Chesapeake bay, and from there to St Lawrence and then to the English Channel.

That’s essentially what I have to do as in the America, at least as England or Holland. But what about Asian trade nodes? I never understand how they worked. What are the cape and Zanzibar nodes, and how are they connected to the Malaccas trade node in any way?I want to get ridiculously rich as Great Britain, but I don’t know how to exploit trade to its fullest.
