In Crusader Kings II each character has an opinion of one another, negative or positive. Your relatives, vassals, barons, bishops, as well as all foreign characters have opinion of you, the main character. Opinion is represented by a number, red being bad, green being good, from 0 to 100. Opinion is a core element of the gameplay and manipulating it is the path to success.The better the opinion of you is, the better benefits you will receive from a character, ranging from diplomatic to financial. It is usually imperative to keep your vassals or your leige happy.Negative opinions of you can lead as far as wars, rebellions, abandonment, attempted assasinations, plots, and in general a character with negative opinion of you will try to get rid of you any way possible.

Alliances and non-aggression pacts are the two most common forms of pacts between rulers. A non-aggression pact is an agreement between two rulers to not declare war on each other. An alliance is an improved pact based on an existing non-aggression pact, and is more powerful by allowing rulers to be called to war. Prisoners can be acquired by several means in Crusader Kings 2. You may capture infidel leaders after a successful battle, you may imprison someone as a result of their involvement in a plot, or you may just not like someone and decide that the ‘Imprison’ button in the Diplomacy Tab is just what the Tyrant ordered.

Negative opinion of your vassals will lead to getting less taxes and less levies and all of the above it gets worse.Listed below are some of the most common opinion modifiers, I have tried to interpret them from the game files as closely as I could:T - time in months that modifier is active.

There is a good chance that you've disabled the prompt that usually comes up by clicking the red cross on it. I know this because I've done it myself. I asked here and was told by another redditor how to enable it again.
